100 Ways to Help Rescue without adopting a dog

  1. Transport a dog.

  2. Make a cash donation.

  3. Help by writing a grant for funds.

  4. Donate treats or a bag of food.

  5. Clip coupons for dog food or treats.

  6. Bake some homemade doggie biscuits.

  7. Donate new or gently used towels, beds, or other “bedding” items.

  8. Donate a Kong, a Nylabone, or cheweez

  9. Donate a package of plastic tie wraps

10.   Donate other safe types of doggy toys.

11.   Loan a crate.

12.   Donate a crate.

13.  Donate dog equipment such as bowls, etc.

14.  Donate an x-pen or baby gate.

15.  Donate a food dish.

16.  Donate a leash.

17.  Donate a collar.

18.  Donate a halti, promise collar, or a gentle leader.

19.  Walk a dog.

20.  Groom a dog.

21.  Donate some grooming supplies. (shampoos, combs, brushes, etc.)

22.  Pay for a grooming or take a dog to a “Do It Yourself” grooming place.

23.  Go to a pet food store and put up information on our rescue.

24.  Make a few needed phone calls.

25.  Help with mailing projects.

26.  Talk to a vet about donating free or discounted services.

27.  Drive a dog to and from vet appointments.

28.  Donate blank paper.

29.  Donate the use of your scanner or digital camera.

30.  Donate the use of a photocopier.

31.  Educate people about All Heart Pet Rescue’s specific needs and responsible pet ownership.

32.  Donate a gift certificate to a pet store.

33.  Donate a raffle item if All Heart  is holding a fundraiser.

34.  Donate flea treatments.

35.  Donate deworming.

36.  Donate a canine first aid kit.

37.  Provide a shoulder to cry on when the rescue person is overwhelmed.

38.  Sponser a dogs vet care

39.  Be a walker in a walkathon even if you don’t have a dog of your own

40.  Make purchases online for rescue and have it sent to All Heart Pet Rescue

41.  Conduct a home visit, or accompany a rescue person on a home visit.

42.  Go with rescue person to the vet to help if there is more than one dog.

43.  Have a yard sale and donate the money to rescue.

44.  Volunteer to do visit a shelter dog in your area for assesment

45.  Read a book on how to help socialize a puppy mill dog

46.  Donate an engraving tool to make ID tags for each rescue dog.

47.  Talk to your friends about fostering and/or adopting a dog from All Heart

48.  Donate vet services, or donate a spay/neuter each year, or some vaccinations.

49.  Write a column for your local newspaper on available All Heart dogs or your experience with us

50.  Cut and paste our dogs for adoption and send them to your non facebook friends

51.  Paint- we always need things painted at the rescue.

52.  Help scan the internet on possible people looking for dogs that might match one we hae.

53.  Help with website projects

54.  Help organize and run fundraising events.

55.  Microchip a rescue dog

56.  Offer a few hours to scrub floors and scoop yards

57.  Donate a steam cleaning service a foster home

58.  Donate a bottle of bleach or other cleaning products.

59.  Donate, or loan, a portable dog run.

60.  Offer to help with fosters’ families dogs, so the foster can take the dog to obedience class, vet, etc.

61.  Pay the cost for special food

62.  Take a dog to obedience class

63.  Come to the rescue just to help socialize a dog that is in need

64.  Help the kennel clean up the yard.

65.  Offer to test dogs with cats.

66.  Bring the pet rescue volunteers snacks because they don’t always take time to eat while working

67.  Help to do some of the pet rescues laundry

68.  Lend your artistic talents for All Heart fundraising ideas, t-shirt designs, painted, photographed art work etc.

69.  Donate printer paper, envelopes, and stamps to your rescue.

70.  Go with a rescue person to the vet if a foster dog needs to be euthanized.

71.  Go to local shelters and tell them how All Heart works at taking in dogs ready for euthanasia

72.  Go to local businesses and solicit donations for All Hearts events.

73.  Help pet owners by being available to answer any questions.

74.  Provide post adoption follow up or support.

75.  Donate a coupon for a free car wash, gas, or inside cleaning of a vehicle.

76.  Donate your vehicle to help transport dogs

77.  Pay for an ad in your local paper to help place rescue dogs.

78.  Volunteer to screen calls for that ad.

79.  Get some people together to build/repair pens for rescue

80.  Microchip pups if you’ve had a litter. It helps identify strays when they’re found.

81.  Donate unwanted beef from your freezer to the rescue..

82.  Buy two of those really neat dog items you “have to have” and donate to All Heart

83.  Make arrangements in your will to cover the burdon of caring for your own dog

84.  Make a bequest in your will to All Heart

85.  Donate your professional services as an accountant, lawyer, veterinarian, etc.

86.  Donate other services if you run your own business.

87.  Donate a Saturday to cut the pet rescue lawn

88.  Loan your cell phone, and cover costs for calls, to someone driving a rescue dog.

89.  Donate a gas card.

90.  Donate your used dog equipment when you get new items.

91.  Let All Heart know when your travelling just incase a dog is on death row in a pound that your travelling to

92.  Donate a doggy seat belt.

93.  Donate a tie out.

94.  Organize a rescued dog picnic, or other event, to reunite dogs that have been placed.

95.  Donate obedience training books, videos

96.  Donate materials for fencing

97.  Donate ceramic tiles

98.  Make yourself available on an emergency basis to do “whatever” is needed.

99.  Do something not listed above.

100. Remember rescuing a dog involves the effort and time of many people.
